Over the past 2 years I have submitted my site to over 1000 Directories, yet only one of them shows up when I do Link:mydomain.com in Google.

    Any idea why?

Thanks a Bunch in Advance. You all Rock!

Not enough information to accurately answer your question. Here are some possible reasons.

Google only shows a sampling of the links it knows about - check Yahoo site explorer.
You submitted to free directories and got a FREE Result - A little vague I know, but think about it.
Your site may be of poor quality or submitted improperly and was not accepted.

And there are numerous other possibilities.

Directories especially free ones tend to disapear quite regularly so some might no longer be online but as the above poster said there are a number of possibilities.

i think that you using same title and description, try make it difference before you submit your site, also please do not submit one day to 1000 directory.. just make a natural backlink.

That statement seems a little broad... cant speak for the value of submissions to others, but I've seen good SERP results from the bigger directories even recently.

You'll only see one or two at first, and over time they will be shown on google using the 'link:' search..

Google will take as long as it does to index your site at the beginning, if not longer, to find all your backlinks..

    Just be patient :)

You probably choose the wrong poor web directories,
What kind of directories have you submitted to?
And have you confirmed all the submission get listing approved?

yeah! submit in high PR directory to get the benefit of directory submission. But the problem is that these high PR directory sites approves really slow or in the bad side your site will not be approves. Just try your luck!
