While I have submitted my websites to a large number of directories, fact is most of the pages where my link appear has a PR 0 (though the directories main page has PRs >=3 ). Question is are these links will *actually* be treated has backlinks by the search engines? Or we do these simply for a peace of mind? Thanks in advance
I think it does carry some backlink value even if infinitesimally small. Assuming a ratio of 6 between consecutive displayed PR, other things being equal, a link from a PR4 page will be worth 1296 links from PR0 pages.
The more important thing is if your backlink is quality or not. It's not a matter of a link from a directory or blog. If a directory is quality, then you can expect a good result. Imagine if your site has a backlink from DMOZ
Thats really interesting. So 1 PR4 Link is worth 1296 PR0 links. WOW! Coolsitez I do agree with you, backlinks from quality sites has some extra weigtage.
the important think is the pr of page which your link stays. if the home page is pr 3 and the subpages (you link stays) is pr 0, that means you are getting link from pr0
Nah this question is much deeper than that. We are not talking about the simple PR divided by the number of links. I reckon this 90 % of all links from directories are devalued by as much as 90 % This is to prevent SPAM. This will be contested by a large number of people here..........but generally these people will have a directory website or be the hot country directory submission occupation anyway so thus they need to perpetuate this myth I think bloggs are a total waste of time. Most of the links will never be indexed since they are too deep, and of no PR. On the other hand if the site is a blogg such as tripadvisor, it should be pretty easy to spam a particular page up google if for instance you had a really bad waiter in Majorca last week!
Any backlinks from a sites can help even just a little benefit. I also believe that your site will not hurt as long as you don't link back to bad sites.
Right info dude. Have the balls to answer here on the forum constructively rather than give me a red flag you sack of puss
Yep hit on the truth. A lot of people want you to believe that you need to pay for directories or directory submission in order to succeed. Personally I think that it is a false market and most are a complete waste of money. Incidentally I will paypal $100 for a screen shot of whom gave me a negative rep for saying that (except to the person who did it dude...) since it supposrts my arguement or why would they complain so quitely and bitterly Valley
I had went for directory submission services a lot before BUT the result were dissapointing hitwise, rankwise. Hitwise after a year I find most of the listed links with 0 hits. Reason is they are too deep inside the cave in some dark corner. People generally do not reach that far. Rankwise Google do not count them as backlinks. I do not know about other search engines (Yahoo or MSN might) but Google does not. So while Yahoo has 298 backlinks, Google has only 5 which has 2 directories as well. Ofcourse Google picks up the quality ones. I wonder if I should really stop altogether the manual directory submissions or just continue with them once in a while? Thanks folks for all your inputs.
