How very affective are links from blogs? Has anyone seen a very dramatic effect just by commenting in blogs and leaving their link there?

    Hi,

When you say "Has anyone seen a very dramatic effect". Do you mean in ranking or in traffic?

Blog commenting is great if you are looking to establish yourself as a leader within your niche. By contributing to the community and providing good contructive comments you can get more click throughs to your own blog or site. I wouldn't recommend purely in order to boost your rankings though as Google has no doubt devalued most of these links which means they do not provide any link juice/equity.

So, if you are going to be dropping links in blogs, make sure you have something of value to offer.

    Hope this helps.

If you're talking about PR, then blog comments aren't really going to help you as most blogs use the nofollow tag.

What kind of effectiveness are you looking for?

A rise in SERPs, traffic, backlink and so-on... If that's what you want to know, then yes, it is an effective way.

On less competitive terms, I have noticed rapid but short term increase in serps.

So would you say it is absolutely pointless to comment on blogs in attempt to increasing your page rank?

Yeah it still counts as your backlinks. But it really depends if the blog is no follow or do follow, has a high PR and related blog.

But seriously, I'm not focusing on blog commenting I'm more on participating in a do follow forums that has a high PR.

Sometimes I do blog commenting for sites in my niche if I believe their readers will also like my site. I try to stay active, and helpful, in the comments so that their readers will start to be curious about me and my site. It is also a great way to get to know the owner of that site and maybe do a couple guest blogs for them which will yield better link juice and traffic.

Blogging is a good way to build links for your website, specially if your link was within the blog post. Although link link in sidebar also works, but for me, it is more effective to put it in your blog post rather than in your blog sidebar.

I have my principle. I believe as long as you put an effort to anything you do would probably gain some good returns. By giving constructive comments, sincere opinion ,words witten in a polite manner,no spamming, no self-promoting, no talking to about your blog or your own program and so forth.

Sooner or later, your blog will be seen by various Search Engines.
One example, just type your url into "Search", you can see how you built backlinks from your effort in the past.

I haven't seen much effect when it comes to the search engines, but I've seen great effect when it comes to traffic and building relations with the blog owners and other people commenting (the blog community).

Contextual one way links within a blog post will be very useful for SERP results compare to blog commenting and sitewide blogroll links.

Mostly blogs provides you back links as no follow and i think links with no follow tag is not effective.... thats not crawled by search engines.
