Hi, I made a post requesting some backlinks, my new site is UK Vacation Rentals. I have had several offers of backlinks from blogs, are permanent backlinks from blogs worth it, are they really going to help my ranking?? Thanks Dee
Backlinks from blogs are the 5 star of all links IMHO. Especially if the blog updates daily and has a big archive.
I agree with lexiseek, though I'm probably a little partial. I used to do quite a bit of comment spam before wordpress did the whole 'nofollow' thing. I have 15 sites that i comment spammed all are pr6, pr5, pr4, pr3. I didn't do it for SERP though, I did it for PR so i could sell high value text links for serp.
Hi well now I am confused I had a couple of PM stating that backlinks from blogs are not a good idea, because they have so many links that it basically has no PR benefit and in fact can get you penalised, which is of course NOT what I wan't, and now in fact I'm thinking it probably isn't worth taking the risk Dee
Backlinks from blogs are good, but the rules are changing a bit, because comment spam is easily detected since most comment spam is on old post. If you manually blog comment then you shouldn't have much to worry about, it's when you create thousands of blog comments in a short period across old blog post then you will raise a flag. Besides, PR and SERP's ... blog comments bring in a good amount of traffic (mostly targeted). I would suggest limiting your blog comments to high traffic blogs for more human traffic. I recently created a post concerning blog comments.
Antonaf is right, I was checking my stats today.. One interesting comment on a popular blog I left is sending me over 200-300 hits per month regularly.. if you want the url let me know
Blog commenting is a powerful way of getting PR love and traffic. You can read about it at my blog. It is titled "Blog Comment Posting – What Is the Value In It?" I cannot place the link here since it is not allowed.
A backlink wether come from a website or a blog can really help your site ranking. Backlink coming from a related site/blog is better.
backlinks from the blogs are excellent because there are potentiial for more active readers and visitors and indirect organic traffic to your site.
"Tip#2: Comment on new blog post. New blog post can increase link age. If you post to new blog post before search engines crawl and index the page then when the bot crawls the page and notice your link the link age clock begins, within six months when that page has value and page rank the search engine will also value your link due to its age and association with the page. Blogging on old post is easily detected as blog comment spam, especially if done in the masses." I got it from the website mentioned by Antanof How far this is true that writing a comment on an old blog will raise a red flag by search engines? though the PR of the page may be high!! please tell me
Of course you won't get penalized by just placing your URL in a blog comment. If google is as stupid as this, I will put my competitor's backlink in blog comments.
Hi, thanks for all your comments, very useful So now that I know backlinks from blogs are good, I have one more question, I have just paid a DP member for backlinks on numberous blogs they have, with the section that is right for me, all good. But I have also had many other offers, many of which are single blogs with PR6, is it worth paying for one single PR6 backlink, is this really going to help my ranking? I have never gotten backlinks from blogs before, so don't really know that much about it but I can't see one single backlink (even if it is PR6) really helping that much, but I may be wrong?? Thanks Dee
i guess higher PR link helps in increasing your search rankings for the keyword how far do you agree?
