Backlinks From Article Directories

I regularly submit articles to some good article directories with linkback to my site. I submit to 8-10 good article directories only like EZA, Article Dashboard, Best Syndication etc.

    My question is
: Does google gives enough importance to such backlinks to reward you a better SERP rankings? If I have 100 articles in EZA pointing back to my site then It will be counted as 100 backlinks from Same IP while links from different IP's are preffered.. Same is true for other article directories as well.

Article links are noted to be short term. They go away when the articles are archived. It appears that Google is waiting ~ 6 month before PR is transfered (or 2 BL updates). Articles are archived before then.

I would spend more time doing Blogs and Forums.

I've been submitting articles for over two years and rarely see links from the article directories. What I do see is links from blogs and websites that have published the articles and included my link.

Thanks for all these advices. As you have said backlinks from article directories get counted for a small span of time while backlinks from blogs and other sites are counted. Can I just publish a blog putting all my articles that have been approved in article directories? Will it be beneficial??

Google devalue links from article directories. I never saw improvement in ranking after getting links from article directories.

Diversify your links. I would probably spend more time finding blogs that can accept guest posts, rather than posting all of them to 1 site.

BTW, Ezinearticles can send you some traffic as well because their articles can often rank nicely for mild competition keywords and long tail keywords.

As catanich said, when you first submit articles they help... because they are typically listed on the RECENT ARTICLES pages of the submission site which ARE themselves indexed and get the actual acticle indexed.

But once you drop off of the RECENT ARTICLES pages and only exist in the archives, your article is so deep in the website structure that it will likely be de-indexed since the only page(s) linking to your article are not indexed.

One way to help prevent this from happening is to 1) submit an article to a submission site and 2) link to that article from a page (or pages) on your own web site(s) that IS/ARE indexed. The more inbound links the article has from pages in Google's index, the better the chance that Google will leave your article in it's index after it falls off the RECENT ARTICLE pages.

The same phenomenom also occurs (but to a lesser extent) with blog posts. Once the post falls off the home page to the archives, it is less likely to remain in the index. Fortunately, blogs don't typically have a 10 folder deep linking structure like a lot of article submission sites, so an archived blog post has a better chance of remaining in the index.

Again you can help prevent deindexing of blog posts be getting inbound links to the actual post from other pages in Google's index.

After reading this topic, I might just give up on artcle directories. So much work writing articles for them just to MAYBE not even be approved and then when you are, you get a small tiny bit of link juice.

it is a great process to write a article and submit then in article directories and getting the article approved. so i prefer blog commenting and forum posting.

You can still gain backlinks from article submission, but not a lot of them unlike before. Article links tend to disappear when they're archived. Despite that, I think you should still keep on submitting. Article submission is not only for BL, it's also a good way to drive traffic to a site.

Catanich, you are very right, links from Articles are noted for short term and as per my experience i also do spend my more time in writing article for my own blog, blog commnets, forums, directory submision and these are the best way to get more backlinks.
