Backlinks dying over time

    Hi,

This is my first post on the forum. I wanted to introduce myself and get some feedback on a little linkbuilding tool that I've co-developed.

Basically, a friend and I noticed that frequently over time, backlinks that had been acquired would change or die, especially links acquired through exchanges, trades, purchases, etc. So we built a tool (www.linkody.com) to monitor these backlinks.

The tool allows you to add a domain and any URLs of the pages that have a backlink to your site. It then crawls those pages every 24 hours to check whether the link is still there, and emails you if there's a problem (such as a 404, addition of nofollow, anchor text change, etc). It's a add & forget service, like Pingdom, and it's very light-weight.

The tool is totally free and would be really good to get some feedback on it. We'll continue developing the tool according to feedback and how people use it.

Here's the URL once again: www.linkody.com

    Thanks.

    Tom

I understand if it's a trade secret but how are you doing this? I'm do a little bit of PHP, and I imagine this would be very hard on a database if you started getting a lot of usage.

He's giving it away for free and not asking for money or scamming anyone. I don't see what the problem is besides that DP Forum people are so full of themselves and so uptight that they're ready to throw down at the drop of a hat. Big deal...he's promoting something useful and free. What do you have?

But it is kind of spammy where he joins DP just to make the post promoting his website and most probably won't post here again.

Well I've PM'd the guy so I am guessing that anything is possible at this point. I've also figured out why DP is so hardcore on new people. I'd even purchase a premium account but at the rate people are being banned, I'm afraid to pay $150 and then get banned for whatever reason. Seems like really thin-ice on DP Forums.

Cool tool and Cool idea! Are you selling the script so webmasters can create local versions? I'd be interested in buying.

If you want that your link will stay permanently you must do the linking yourself instead of buying links where they just remove your links if they got another buyer who will pay them the same amount you paid.
