    {hopfully this topic is in the right spot}

    As I check the 'iwebtool' I noticed for a few days that my backlinks have flopped for a site I got. Actually they flopped about 3 days ago.

    from like 2000 backlinks to 41.

    Why is this, and is anyone else having a problem like this?

    Backlinks are always changing especially when you used third party tools... What did you see when you log into your Google Sitemap -> Links section?

    Right, check google sitemap links. They're accurate. However, even that flucturates.

    I assumed that submitting to directories would get backlinks. And the iwebtool thing was showing some good returns for the effort I made, but now it's all gone.

    I checked out the google webmaster area.

    All too confusing to me.

    It's saying 3880(around) external for my site.

    I'm not very good at this sitemap thing. I was looking at the diagnostic thing and there a an error report which got me confused.

    Web crawl errors = 402 errors.

    most of the errors are weird it's like http://mysite.com/chinese.php

    No idea what's up with the backlinks and sitemapping.

    Just enter link:www.yoursite.com into the first page at Yahoo. It will take you into Site Explorer.

    There are a couple of other threads in the Google section where people are noting their links are all over the place right now. Maybe a linkupdate by Google is causing the fluctuations? My links have changed significantly for a site in the webmaster tool over the last couple of weeks.

    Yahoo is saying Total Backlinks 8,982.

    That's good news. iwebtool saying 46 backlinks.

    Yeah, I did, but doesn't everyone fix broken links and update.
