I have substantially more backlinks when i do a search for my domains without the www in front of it. Which ones do search engines calculate more - with or without "www"? Or is it both?
So, say i have i 200 backlinks for mycompany.com and i have 300 for www.mycompany.com, i have a total of 500 backlinks according to a search engine?
It doesn't matter anymore. It used to be that www.website.com and website.com were counted as two different domains. Consequently, they could both get indexed in the search engines and get penalized for duplicate content. Nowadays it doesn't matter, but if you're worried for the sake of link building, skip the www and go with website.com.
first go to google webmaster tool and change "Preferred domain" setting and verified again your site. I think your problem can be solved.
I think the site with www is much better than one without. And regarding backlinks, both are counted.
no in your domain is not redirect on www so your back link is link:example.com and your site is redirect on www so check link:www.example.com
i think u can rely one of them. both method are good. but in my opinion i rely with www to check backlinks
If you don't use 'www' in your domain then you should bother about building links with 'www' as without 'www' is not going to help you. The more important links will be those which are without 'www'.
Both can be calculate well by the search engines but be sure that your canonical url is definitely match with the backlinks that you made.
