If I buy links and they are placed on a site under a 'Sponsors', 'Affiliates' or 'Paid Link' header, do any of the search engines weight these links differently than links under, say, a 'blogroll' or a 'related sites' header?
I usually take into consideration the amount of links on a page anyway. What really concerns me is that in the near future google will figure out how to devalue 'link pop' from sites containing obvious paid links. For instance: this story I found on digg.com is just the beginning. Now do not misunderstand, I am fully aware of the arguments concerning paid links for SERPS sake only vs paid ads for traffic but let's face it; those of us buying links for PR boosts have, IMHO, a short time to play this game before we have to find another way to keep on the edge.
I don't think it has a direct impact here but I do believe they take the surrounding content into consideration
IMO, both would have more or less the same effect....however links in actual content would be much better than "Sponsors" or "Related Sites".
A very great article. So they said it will be starting from June 'eh? Let's wait and see, I still believe it's just another bluff from google
Even if it is not a bluff, google will no doubt change their mind again within a few months. I guess that when you are big enough to define 'evil' for everybody, you really can say that your motto is 'Do No Evil'?
