I decided to do a little experiment, and it got out of control. I wanted to increase my link popularity, so I started trading links all over the place, built a few link exchange directories, and bought several sidewide textlink advertisement. Problem is... I triggered a filter at Google because my backlinks grew 300%. However, Yahoo and MSN seem to like my backlinks and gave me top rankings. Now I want to balance things out. I have stopped trading links, I have cancelled all my text link advertising, and I am trying to get my backlink count down, but it just keeps on growing! Marketleap shows 100,187 backlinks. I guess it will take quite a long time to get things back to normal... I will need to live with MSN and Yahoo meanwhile Another weird thing I noticed, is that at the Google directory, where sites are ordered by Pagerank, my site jumped up to the #1 spot... oh, boy, I sure hope this means that my green bar will go up one digit in the next PR update!!
yeah, that's the only thing left for Google to do now... it already sent me to #99999999 for every keyword I have, now I guess the next thing is to give my site a PR1...
Was this from the results of the latest update, or has this happened since the update a week or so ago? I inreased links on my sites, and they dropped. Though I'm still getting traffic for individual products and google is doing some massive visits on my sites.
I don't count on google for an accurate count of my back links. I have found that MSN gives the closest results. I hate google's stinkin filters.
Well i guess getting to many backlinks can be a problem to even if it sounds like a pleasent problem to me.
sorry for being offtopic: whats the search text shud be to check out the backlinks of any website? Is it "backlinks:http://<sitename>" ??
Because it seems that Google didn't like my new backlink amount and penalized me. I have read at many places about this. Damn links keep on growing! Marketleap shows 148,301 now
