hey there fellas!! i'm running (just started) a small website named http://singhzcrew.net related to some ethical hacking and programming tutorials.. As with any webmaster, i also want my site to be indexed by google as fast as possible.. but out of dismay, every webmaster is not that lucky! I've submitted my sitemap file to Webmaster Tools (130 URL's yet, i did this around 7 days ago) and not even a single URL is included into Google yet.. Yes, i lack patience (if some question is running down ur mind ) then, i came to know about Backlinks.. can someone plz explain me about Backlinks in some layman language.. and what are the best ways to obtain them.. thanx frnds!!
you need to get a high pagerank for google to update your site often and even then by posting fresh new content eveyday. the best way to get a high pr is to submit your site to other high pr sites and directories, don't waste your time trying to add your site everywhere, it won't do much good, focus on getting quality links
thanx fella!! that gives me some idea of what i should be doing... i hope submitting my site to directories like Technorati, Bloglines etc would help...??
the easiest way is to start a wordpress blog like xyz.wordpress.com. post some content and place link of your website. if the posted content is related to your website then it will be helpful
Yep, you need backlinks and plenty of them.. good quality backlinks, that is. Don't worry too much about PR. I would concentrate more on ranking in the search engines for the keywords you are targetting.. This is what brings in revenue and gets quality traffic to your site. To get those precious backlinks you will have to put in some long hours building links on forums, do follow blogs, articles, social bookmarking, and many other methods. But for me, I have found that the source in my signature not only saved me a LOT of time building backlinks, but it also put my websites on Page 1 of Google in just a couple weeks. Worth a look.
A quick way to get indexed with Google (though this does not impact ranking) is to send out a press release. This is one of the most overlooked options available. Every new site, every reasonable enhancement should have a press release. Because this is considered "news" it will be indexed within days, not weeks. And that should carry you over until you have the chance to market the page further. Mo
hi there, am just a new starter in website design and seo. may i ask you what do you mean by backlink and how can someone get them?
So all the URL links in people signatures are considered "backlinks" correct? Aswell as any URL links posted on a blog comment ?
No, I don't believe so. At least, they've never been listed in any of my own searches. If they were, I'm sure there'd be a LOT more inbound links to my site than there are, currently.
'Backlinks' is a term that simply refers to any hyperlink from outside of your website that points to a URL within your website. In due time, you will about the two main varieties of backlinks, 'nofollow' and the so-called 'dofollow' backlinks. In short, 'nofollow' links are good for passing traffic, but search engine 'robots' / 'spiders' do not follow them, and thus such links do not pass on the 'almighty PageRank' that DPers and SEO folks are so lovestruck with. They do however pass on valuable traffic, if used properly. 'Dofollow' links are backlinks that provide both a path for traffic to follow, as well as a link that search engine robots will follow. These help you to gain PageRank more than the 'nofollow' links, and provide a traffic source as well. An easy way to get started building backlinks is to post comments on blogs within the niche you are targeting. Don't spam the blogs! Leave your own insight or other feedback after reading the article. 90% of the blogs you comment on will provide 'nofollow' backlinks, but they are still valuable and will are a great introduction to garnering backlinks to your site. Good luck! -Ben
