I am not sure how everyone else deals with this but i am sorta wondering what is the best thing to do in a case like this.

I have a web site that i like and is doing well it does not have tons of pages but i add to it daily. It ranks in MSN for its keywords but heres were things get tricky i guess you could say.

Site launched and was ranked for
    abc
    abc widgets

Ok great the first goal was met now i add new pages for easy to rank keywords

    xyz
    xyz widgets

but i need backlinks to put them to page 1 im not sure were to get these links from ??? i used directory submissions when the site started for the main keywords so is link exchanges the only way to go or sould i use co-op and add more pages and let co-op grow.

If anyone would like to share what they do or find works best for them when it comes to getting a site to rank for new keywords it would help me and others out a lot thanks!

I'll be interested to hear what answers you get to this. Personally I am starting to get disheartened with the whole backlink building thing. My site is 100% white-had and I've been link building relavant links for yonks and the reults are not forthcoming :(

    1) Submit to hundreds of directories
    2) Submit articles
    3) Exchange links

These are the basic ways to build links, if you have a good site try to get bloggers to talk about it as this gives very valuable natural links.

I submit loads of articles for myself and clients. Each time an article is indexed its a relevant backlink to your site. If you get the articles on a hundred sites then thats a hundred links assuming the search engines spider the articles.

You also get some good links from people who take the articles and use them on their own sites.

ya that sounds pretty good since you can do this process over and over to build more and more links as you write new articles to submit. Ill have to check around and see how cheap i can get this done for :)

Around 80 backlinks that will help you a max period of 30-90 days :)

After that period.... they will wanish ... because every day new articles will be submited to articles directories.

Articles are permanently stored on article directories so the links will help you permanently.

Thats why ezinearticles has over 2 million pages.

Dont' .... find quality link partners over quantity.
don't link with directories unless it's a free one way, don't link with
non-cache link pages (A lot of people do, not knowing-so check),
have signatures when joining forums (helps with newer sites), some email link exchange are good - 95% are'nt since it's a three way (they link from a bad site like a directory)so check again.some people pm you with link request from forums w/o even posting a single post - avoid them - most likely they will screw you up.
link building ain't easy, ever heard of no pain no gain ? it's true!

not sure what type of site you have, but pm with list and see if I will link up with you.
I have a new site i just build feb 19 2006 (lucky me) already ranking in Google..it's all about contents too and good title and description and all.

I agree, always choose quality over quantity.

The great thing with articles and directory submission is its so easy and cheap to get links. You can pay $14 for 100 directory submissions and $30 for 450 article submissions (2 articles to 225 sites) which is a bunch of links for only $44 dollars.

So its better to choose quality links over quantity but even better to do both.

You need to contact bloggers individually (without spamming) and let them know about it.

If they like it they will post about it. Try Rand at seomoz.org first.
