Thank Desss....
What kind of backlinks are you building? From the way you describe it, it sounds like you doing things like creating forum profile links, submitting to website directories, and such. Is that correct? How are you building your backlinks?
I have the same problem and it appears all sites do. Must be something happening with the search engines.
A lot of people have seen the issue, but it appears to have more to do with link quality than anything else. From what I've seen so far, people who have focused on building real, quality backlinks have seen a boost, rather than a drain.
it's because of blog, forum threads, temporary links, and so forth. Pages get removed, archived, and links drop out of the index. Just keep building and coming up with pages worth linking to.
@Brad: You nailed it. Here are some details. 1. Blog Comment: When you comment on a blog the post is on blog's homepage and the page is 'important' for search engines. In 1-2 months the page is in archives and homepage doesn't link to it anymore. The page (and hence a link on that page) is not good enough any more. Sometimes you get sitewide links on blogs with recent / top commentator plugins. 2. Directories - Latest pages get indexed more frequently. It's possible that search engines find your site there one day and the next day it's gone while the category page is not indexed yet.
I've been building links to a new site for work. Just lost about 40 links yesterday afternoon, with most of the links lost being from Hubpages and Squidoo. And from what I've been seeing, most peoples' links have been decreasing quite a bit.
What's the content like that the links are attached to? (Please don't tell me "original, quality content". Everyone says that. Be specific. Provide links, if you're willing.) How many backlinks do you have from each one (grand total, counted or not)?
You have no idea if the guy has origional or quality content so why tell him not to say this? Since you have been on DP a week how can you say what everybody says??
Because it is a meaningless statement, whereas links or a more descriptive account might provide some useful information. 1. I have had an active account on DP for a week, which is quite a different thing from what you say. 2. I haven't been on the Internet for only a week. (On the contrary, I've been on the Internet since before there was a hypertext web.) DP isn't some magical place where the typical behavior and comments of the Internet vanish. 3. I can read.
