I went to a site that checks link popularity (backlinks) for my website and when I entered my site's URL address, I got 1 result for Google, Unavailable for MSN and 100 for Yahoo. How come Google is not displaying my backlinks while Yahoo does? Any help will be appreciated here.
Its alot harder to get Google links. Try using a link popularity tool on other competitirs sites and look at their Google Links. Submit to those sites. You have to have content that Google likes before it will give you a link. The surpising thing is Google will list links that you might not think apply to your site.
It's not that you have less links on google it's just that google don't want people to use them as a backlink analyser. the best thing you can do if you want to keep a check on your backlinks is, down load firefox if you don't already have it and get an add-on called search status. this will allow you to easily find out about your backlinks plus much more. it's a great little SEO tool, enjoy Hope this helps. Also for my site, I see a lot more backlinks in Yahoo than in Google. First of all, I believe that Yahoo counts the Nofollow as well. But Google might also be a little sluggish. I had about 100 backlinks in the beginning and Google Webmaster Tools showed only 27. This lasted for almost 2 months and then suddenly the other links popped up. It appears that they don't update this figure too frequently.
What is your site PR? If you dont have PR that may be the reason, because Google dont use to display backlink of some site with no PR. Continue to build link for the site, Google will display your backlink soon or later. Good luck
Use webmaster tools to find out backlink info. This is more accurate to see the sites linking to yours.
Google only shows a sample of backlinks. The main theory behind this is that they want to limit the inside knowledge of their algorithm. If you know exactly what backlinks Google is counting, it creates an environment where everyone can just copy each other's links. Yahoo shows what could be every link they count, including internal links and nofollow links. For link checking, I use SEO Elite and it does a decent job at finding most of a website's backlinks. It's up to each search engine as to which links they actually count though.
Google only show full of your links profile via Google Webmaster Tools. The link that show via link: operator just a sample of whole links you have got. However, Google Webmaster Tools has been changed in lately and do not show all links as it was. Google always create their own new filter that got links filtered more and more likely each day. I have seen site that got 200,000+ links in Yahoo but only 300 in Google. Pretty common.
The "link:domain" command on google won't show exactly all your backlinks. Use google webmasters tool instead, for more accurate backlinks count.
Google tend not to show all links. These links however will be reflected in your Google webmaster tool
Did you check in Google webmaster Tools? This is the most exact way to find out the backlinks of the website.
