Hi,

Will these be counted as a backlink?

- No anchor:
- Blank anchor:
- Anchor with special characters: !@#$$%%
- Anchor is an image with no alt text:

Yes.. But it's useless because the main purpose of having anchor text is to build promote your site using your keywords.

It is still counted as a link, but it is almost useless :) We build links to other sites using our targeted keywords as our anchor text to bring them up on search results. If we don't use anchor links, then there will be no benefit for the site ranking.

If the sites that the links are coming from have PR, it will pass onto yours. However, it's always better to have keywords on your backlinks so the search engines will start associated the keywords with your website.

PR ? maybe. But im not sure I would try it. Probably as bad a making a link sam color as background.

As for the last method, an image without alt. That is definatly a good backlink. I wonder if the name of the image would help seo wise for a certain keyword.
