Backlink Vs Link popularity.

Hi,

Can anyone clarify this to me? What is the difference between backlinks and link popularity?

Link Popularity- from the search engines
Backlinks- from the actual sites that physically link to you

 

when u type site:h ttp://www.domain-name.com in search box, u get link popularity
and when u type link: h ttp://www.domain-name.com, u get back links,

back links are no. of sites linking back to you, i.e. they have a page where u link appears.
Link popularity is no. of pages the search engine think are available on your website.

 

Backlink is the site that link to your site or the site where you submit or post about your site
Link popularity - it is for search engine or page rank of a site

Link Popularity - a quantity of backlinks shown in each search engine

 

The link: isnt really accurate in Google either nor relevant.

I dont know how google finds the sites to display link:

But my most relevant sites that are PR5 and PR6 dont even display on that.
