The differences between Google and DP's tools is probably data center differences. They should all be in tune by later today or tomorrow.

Secondly Google most likely does not update backlinks every day or two because doing so makes it harder to figure out their algorithms. This may be something for them to think about since Yahoo is now doing so.

    BL's down fdrom 700 something to 424 ...
I've noticed for my website that since 2 BL's updates ago, Google doesn't seem to show directories anymore, I know someone told me they still see them but I still think this is strange cause I'm in a lot of directories.

Could it be Google is trying to hide directories as much as possible so people don't know where to get easy and good backlinks ?

It does not show up with the link: command because it is not a link ;).

Did you notice the links above that line ? If they indexed my random string they have indexed the sig-links aswel. The BL's seems to be higher PR pages again though, that would explain why they don't show up.

I lost ALL of the few (43) backlinks that were showing in Google. My minimal PR went with it. I am now at PR 0. :(

LOL Not for the modest Lever, Weirfire; if he was going to do that he'd have put the "Bogus Web Award" button on his site all those years ago to show he was a 'winner' :D

I don't think so. I have a site that has only 13 links showing up previously. Secured a sitewide link exchange with a directory and now showing 300+ IBLs.

Still a PR6 but improved to #8 for allinanchor.

BTW, the Mcdar tool is also showing huge increases in backlinks for Yahoo. This if for the same site with the addition of the directory pages, 1,500+ pages.

All of my sites are still holding. I'll have to watch over the next day or so and see if I get any movement. Just about every site I have should see an increase in links…I've been working my as* off in terms of link building.

I have no doubt this is happening, since the last BL update weeks ago.

No good PR websites are showing, and it is significant that on one of my websites I get 50 poor BL at Google and 500 at Yahoo.

Google is not showing all what they have as BL information, and wouldn't be surprised if they take BL and PR information away, for good.

What would be the point behind them removing the ability for webmasters to see backlinks?

Chicago, I don't see the point in Google showing so few BL, other than preventing webmasters copy what their competition is doing.

If G continue as it is now, they will be showing a disadvantage as in:

Either they go back to showing all or most BL, or they will take that feature away.

Google will not stand for being less or second to any other SE in any of their results, BL included.

Backlinks is what the game is about and they invented it.

I think that Google continues to update the PR but for any reason he/she (?) doesn't want to show us anymore.

I wrote an article about that here: New Google Dance but still no PageRank update
Feel free to comment it ;-)

That green PR bar is very important to get link partners. I have seen that some don't accept, say, under 4 PR websites pages.

If Google showed us the real PR value of pages, webmasters will target those high PR websites easily, stubbornly and paying large amounts for very high PR links.

This will give some websites offering links, a lot of power, and create an "artificial" importance to some websites outside G's control. This could probably be the reason why Google is not showing real PR and Backlink values.

I believe that Google wants, in a way to stop the PR race somehow.

my backlinks have been cut by 3/4, no PR yet (newish site) and yes, keywords fluctuating wildly.

The link: command shows the same as the DR tool for backlinks
although I know both are currently incorrect.

my backlinks have increased, but my site hasn't been spidered lately. I wonder if one has to do with another.

I lost a few backlinks here and there and especially lost some backlinks from high PR directories... just wondering if Google ever bothers to update PR again, not that it matters a lot but I want to see some green bars after all these months

I just dowloaded the PR Weaver tool.

I have checked in Google Directory and I have a PR 22/40. So why would I still have a PR 0 for the web search. As I understand it, the PR Weaver tool should be accurate. And yes, my site has been spidered.

    Thanks for your thoughts!
