Backlink Update

Well, one of my sites just saw a jump from 5,500 to 9,400+ backlinks. I've seen quite a few in the mix that could only possibly have originated from the coop ad network. So I daresay, the coop is now paying off.

What are you using to check backlinks? I haven't noticed any change in any of my sites for back links. I've been using DP's tool. I have noticed a huge flux in the SERPs though.

 

Google is showing only low PR links since last update weeks ago, in my websites. This update is the same but reduced the number of BL.

I don't believe the info it is giving on BL is faithful, and those high PR value BL are still there, even without showing. At least, I hope so.

 

I have no change either, though keyword ranking is bouncing wildly on a daily basis like a ping pong ball for days now

 

Yes. I'm getting the same with the keywords. I tried typing link:www.weirfire.co.uk and it says 75 backlinks as opposed to the 57 backlinks I'm supposed to have according to DP's tool.

Tell me if you get anything different with link command.

goddammit - my IBLs have now gone down to 18! (and half of those are internal!)- i know i've got at least a 100 i wish they'd stop doing this! - i thought more backlinks were supposed to be added every update not taken away! im just glad this isn't representative of what googles counting.
first they broke it and now they broke it even more!- why don't they just remove it - or is it too much fun to watch all us lot try and figure it out.

 

I checked today and backlinks for my websites have increased considerably. Waiting anxiously for the PR update.

 

My backlinks have now updated on the DP tool.

3 backlink updates and no PR update. It must be coming soon!!

I can just imagine some joker up at Big G towers sitting with his finger hovering over the button, chuckling gleefully to himself...

 

What happens when you type link:www.yoursite.com on Google?

is it any different? Maybe you have just kept the same number of backlinks?

 

I'm showing useful increases in all my sites, but I just wish that Google would show everything.

 

As people have said before though the only advantage of the PR update is so you can advertise the fact you have a PR of whatever. It makes no difference to the SERPs as they are updated all the time.

In what way does the DP Tracker differ from what Google gives you with the "Backward Link" of the tool bar?

In other words, where does the DP tracker gets the data from?

 

The DP tracker gives me the same amount of links that I had yesterday before the beginning update.

Still it doesn't show higher than 4 PR links, that I am sure I have. Google Toolbar doesn't show them either.

ODP and Google Directory, for example, are not shown in either case, so since they exist, I assume that the backlink data in either case is not accurate.

It is only certain that there is an update going on, that could be real or just cosmetic.

 

There is some scuttlebut flying around that google is purposely not showing a lot of the backlink info anymore or at the very least, doing so very very slowly.

Many SEO's are using yahoo to quickly determine backlinks accurately.

My personal experience shows yahoo updating every 24-48 hours.

Yahoo shows all or almost all my backlinks accurately. The point would be to know which are Google considering, and which are not taken into account.
