What do the search engines consider more valulable in consderation to the search engine result pages? lets say all your backlinks are to various pages on your site (domain.com/content-article.html). are those backlinks considered less valulable than backlinks to the root domain (domain.com)?

you should optimize your every page the same, i mean consider every page like being the only page of your site (put specific keywords in metas, title, content)

and if you want to optimize a page (different from homepage) link to it, of course :)

Yeah I see what you're saying but lets say I'm trying to optimize mydomain.com for #1 result on the search engine. If I have 500 backlinks to mypage.com/whatever.html versus 500 backlinks to mypage.com, is it more valulable to get the links right to mypage.com as opposed to a subpage on the domain? Hope u understand....

    Thanks,sixpack

It is easier to rank for the homepage as compared to subpage, yes.

    well, it depends...

if you don't have the keyword in the domain name, maybe you could make a page like domain.com/keyword.html which can get better results than domain.com (if everything else are exactly the same)
