Hi guys, I run a PR4 website: I have a question, I have been building some-baclinks, Does it matter that your actual url is not in the Title text, For example my site is a sports news site and alot of my links on other sites are simply - ( Football News ) and that text links to my site, Is this just as good in googles eyes or do they prefer text with your website url/name in it? Thanks
The URL should not be the anchor text. The anchor text should be your target keyword. Maybe this will help you understand anchor text a little better http://www.selftaughtseo.com/beginn...ghtseo.com/beginners-guide/understanding-seo/ or better yet understand anchor text
What it means is that you are pushing your site to rank higher for "Football news" That's fine. You are targeting your keywords and the higher you rank in search engines for different keywords relevant to your content, the better for your site's overall position.
The url is diffrent and link text/title is different off page feature to securing high rankings in Google is appropriate anchor text/tilte pointing to the specific page/category of your website that has been optimized to target that term for that keyword phrase. or "Linked Title" Anchor text/title is the text that you click on to activate and follow a hyperlink to another web page or another web site.
Having targeted keywords in anchor text of your backlinks is much better than just URL. I agree with lychee that such links are more valuable for search engines. It looks more natural this way. If it's necessary you may have 2 or 3 variants of your anchor text. Many site owners prefer having different anchors on different sites.
However, you do not want to go overboard with just keyword phrases. Google knows that most sites are referred to by the name of their site or "click here". So you need to have some balance or Google will think you are gaming the system.
Wow thank you. I am pretty new to building a site and marketing on line. I thought that you had to put your url as the linking text for google to recognize it as a back link. So I am totally wrong if I understand what you are saying. can someone just clarify it for me. My site is about children, my url is yourkidsshop.com (hope I am ok to put this sorry if not have missed off the www to be sure as don't want to break the rules of this site) in my link would I put for example kids toys rather than me url, and if so how would google know its a backlink to me. I know I sound really thick here. Is google or which ever search engine able to still recognize it as a backlink to me because that is where the text is pointing to. I hope this makes sense and sorry for waffling I am actually a nurse not a computer bod.
well if you you make a research you will come to know that spamming with a single targeted keyword will effect your serp's so try to keep not using the same anchor text always hope this helps many people here
