One of my Top competitor is copying my exact content. I realised that he is using my Feedburner subscription content which he received via email on each new post. But there is also link of my feed below that post. I decided not to report to Google as I am also getting free back link from a related and good pr (more than mine) sites. Please suggest- Is this will considered as natural link to my post and google will give it value. ? The feed url is- (WIll google give value to this ? ) http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/smsi...Hl3w/sad-hindi-sms-by-arun-more-mein-aur.html ( moderator- this url is not for promotion, so please do not send me infraction notice)
If you're getting a link back that's fine - Google should count the link if the page is indexed. The only problem with them copying your content is the fact that there is now duplicate content and one of the copies is going to outrank the other. Therefore it's not a problem unless they are outranking you and taking away visitors who would find you by using keywords related to your content.
Thanks.. That page( of competitor & also mine) is already indexed... My url got indexed within seconds(as always) and if he has copied my content after 1 or 2 days.
I hope you are outranking him for keywords relating to the content - if so fine, otherwise there could be a problem.
you make me think again.. He is at position 2 and I am on 3rd in google for my top keyword and his pr is higher than me (home page).
You may get hit with the duplicate content rule, but also his site may be listed above yours in SERPS for those specific keywords in your article, meaning you lose out on traffic. It's your choice but i would report it
I don't think that even if they are being indexed by google.. they would be counted as valuable links.
I suggest you report to Google, totally deindex your competitor is a better idea of get some backlinks.
In most cases the RSS feeds links would reflect some other dynamic or static pages structures and presence which could be crawled by Google and naturally the links too would be counted. Of course as soon as Google scans the feeds it would pick the links but may not count them immediately.
Why bother reporting? This promotion could bring you new subscribers! You can also choose to only include excerpts from your posts, this will avoid subscribers copying the whole post and you get a backlink. Sounds good to me!!
simpseo nailed it, but then again it depends if the content you have on your site is generating direct traffic. If it isn't but is read, it doesn't matter if there are other copies on the net, but if they are optimized and getting SE traffic, then it can be a problem only if they outrank you. So not only do they have to outrank you, but it has to be something people are searching for.
Well, links in RSS doesn't count. If someone is taking your feed and republishing it in their website keeping the link, then that might counted as backlink.
Today I found , many bloggers are using my email feed subscrition content. I got all these from the Google webmaster Tool. Since I have started to provide email subscrition and feed my backlink has increased from 2K to 6K (today) within few weeks. Thats Great!!!!!!!!!!
I just noticed that one can get tons of backlinks by submitting feeds on social networking sites like ning. There are also start pages using other tools, too that can be used for link building.
Google would count them, depends on the feed distributor somehow. If they have attached "nofollow" in the feeds they distributing then this feed link would be counted as "nofollow" one. However, since text and link at feeds are looking similar so I do not think it could give you a big score anyway.
