trichnosis is right, backlink from dp forums is a great for page rank and as well for traffic. dp is a great place to participate and to join.
DP was really a good source of backlinks because the thread here was often crawl by search engine. It is also a good source of traffic.
I don't think it carries much weight anymore because of the shear number of outbound links (signatures, etc), though if it's a new site it can't hurt to have it get crawled by search engines to get you in the database. Either way it's good to participate on forums like DP because theres a lot of useful discussions going on
"As far as i know" is just an assumption based on what you "think". If you take a look at My Recent Bog, that was placed there on Wednesday 28th February. With 827 posts and some of these being on PR3 DP forum pages, you will see my blog page isn't even indexed. Also if you Google the subdomain URL "isthisaboutrarara" it will return no results. If you Google the page title "Is this about rarara" also no results (i purposly chose this jibberish because there was no competition). Another Google of my backlink anchor text "Virtual Memory Optimization" shows no mention of my page in the Google index. I've also conducted similar SEO tests with signature URL's, in post URL's plus anchor experiments on both indexed and non-indexed domains. I have been doing SEO for several years, and what i know doesn't come from an e-book but rather extensive testing... Even if it means sacrificing high PR domains, and doing things people wouldn't dream of like linking to several banned domains just to analyse the results. People can believe whatever, but testing shows me DP backlinks are a very poor influence on Google or it's index.
I have tested on a site giving sig links to a particular page of the site. tinnitus-behandling.info/tinnitus-danmark.html. The PR is not increasing because of my 3000 sig links.
in fact, pr effect changes according to the threads that you have reply. there are some threads on dp forums has page rank but most of the threads have no page rank
IBL's from DP forum pages have bad characteristics: Very large number of links per page Usually very low original content / links ratio Repetition of the same link/anchor on the page Repetition of the same link/anchor across hundreds of pages on the same domain This should trigger a variety of link-farm/spam filters.
google pretty much lists all sites within 24 hours of finding a link to yoursite regardless of what kinda site they find your link on....with the exception of the ones with nofollow tags though.

Actually gogle only see the sig links ad only 1 link. even you have 10,000 post it will weight as only 1 links. Sig links is not good for PR but for Link popularity.
Google doesn't really single out certain content because it is embedded in a forum. As a matter of fact, the bot doesn't see it's a forum, it's a web page with content on it.
