Backing up

I hope this is the correct place to put this. I am wanting to do nightly backups to new and updated files on my various sites. Wondering what would be the best way to do it? Is there something like a standalone drive (some sort of self -contained unit) or would it be best to just have a dedicated system. If you recommend a dedicated system what software would you recommend?

I have about 10 sites, some are pretty large.

    Thanks

    Hello.

http://www.bqinternet.com/backup/ offer a really good bcukup solution.

Depending on how much space you need here are the plans:

    10Gb - $5/month
    100Gb - $20/month
    1Tb - $150/month

They use rsync for backups, that way the first time you back up everything is backup up to their server. After that only things/files that have changed are backed up, so it doesn't use a large amount of server resources.

I use them and they are great, the best way I have found to do my server backups.

Your welcome, I recommend them, most of the other webhosting/people who need that sort of backup use them.

rsync is good because it means you don't need to slow down everything for backups.

I do offpeak backups a around 5am GMT using them.

I have a few accounts and in total they keep 1.8Tb of data but only around 100-200Gb is transfered every day.

    It is quick aswell.
