What is the most reliable method of backing up a computer between an external hard drive or a Flash drive ?

I prefer other HDDs or using large capacity DVD's (you can get 8.5GB now)...Although thumb drives are nice, occasionally they do go out, I had one quit working recently. That is why I prefer DVD's and HDDs.

Just put in a raid card, I think it should be secure enough, a Raid 1 can tolerate one hard disk failure, just in case of data corruption, attach a USB drive to do incremental backup.

I agree with using another HDD or using DVDs to back-up your files. Before I reformat (every 6 months or so), I put all the important files onto my external.

Thanks to all for your great responses. I didn't know that there were all these options.
