I'm looking for an idea (or even better - realization ) to make the following background more compatible with transparent banners (image of boots with text in this example): http://shrani.si/f/2V/Nh/22YSu7Xp/backg.jpg As you may see, dumbbell is dark grey, surrounded with too bright colors. This makes text hardly readable, so in my opinion, there should be less contrast difference. I'm not sure what are the viable options here, perhaps you might have any nice ideas? Thanks! Here is the source background: http://shrani.si/f/2U/12C/2yxAUglq/istock000004112327medium.jpg And that's how website will roughly look like (with different background amongost other things of course): http://journal.digital-atelier.com/2/
As far as I can see I can give you 3 different advices: Maybe you could put a low opacity black or gray rectangle beneath the boots and text? Remove the background pattern ( 1px diagonal lines ) and leave only the picture. Or make your background slightly darker on that spot.
Rectangle: but it won't look so modern and minimalistic in that case... Removing background pattern makes it even worse, because background gets even more attention. Slightly darker... how, what tool/effect would yo you recommend?
Hmm, you could mask that certain part of the background with soft edges and play with levels. ( Photoshop shortcut: CTRL + L ) Or you could brush it with Burn tool to darken it or with Dodge tool to brighten it. Anyways here's the two examples that I have made for you, but I really do not know how it will fit on your site, you should try it. Thanks, I've already tried it out and I prefer lighter version with black text, what do you think? Perhaps you have any more suggestions? http://shrani.si/f/A/1l/4t1llPVT/dark.jpg http://shrani.si/f/2K/R3/3neWgA1n/bright3.jpg http://shrani.si/f/2C/La/2xanwqLJ/bright2.jpg http://shrani.si/f/2z/IT/38SUAl6T/bright1.jpg
Yes, way much better! I like it now. One more tip that I see through my designers eye, maybe try to change that text from black to the darkest color your site layout uses? Dark gray if I see correct? That's just polishing. But anyways I say again, way much better for eyes when that part of background is brighter. Huh, a nice and warm welcome to DigitalPoint, right?
