Background images for a wordpress site

Hey guys and Happy New Year everybody

I have found myself recently having issues with creating background images for my wordpress site. I never quite know what the dimensions should be and once the image is up it is either to far to the right or to the left and when it comes to responsiveness it drives me totally insane. Are there like any guidelines or tools out there that help us designers come up with the appropriate dimensions or positions or is all just a wild guessing game?

You may use the "Simple Full Screen Background Image" wordpress plugin. This should help you. The background image should be of
1660x1200 px size.

 

What type of background image would you put? Is it a photo or a gradient image?

 

Hey when i use background image i normally try and make it about 1920x1080.
I am doing that in order to cover them biggest screen resolution.
You can make the image smaller as well and use in your css
background-size: cover;
