Noticed that when i'm on a website with a dark background (not black) and bright contrasting text that my eyes are immediatly drawn to the adsense ads if they are well blended and I am more inclined to click if i see something interesting Did a little research and some say that dark backgrounds definitly improve ctr with other claiming no effect. Does anyone have any experience either way?
It's all down to psychology. If the ad stands out from the page, then you're more likely to see it. You do find a lot of webmasters fail with google adsense as they try to make the ads more subtle, but every website is different, and you should experiment with all the different ad formats and colours in order to find out which is the best way to monetise your website(s) On one of my forums, the colour of my adsense ad's are subtle, and hence i had less success with them untill i changed the theme on my forum
I've received good CTR by not doing anything special...in fact, the more they look like links, the better! emailfriends.com is a perfect example.
