I used back ordering on a domain of interest through a well known site about a year ago. The system never picked up my domain after it was deleted from ICANN. Fair enough, it was a hot domain, so i figured it went to the "pool" and i lost out. The credit went back to my back order account and has been used unsuccessfully a couple more times throughout the year. So i did a test. I let one of my domains expire. It was a personal, undeveloped domain that is not of high stature. So, i watched as it went through the process of expired>redemption>deletion So, here is the catch: The domain was available for registration to the public on a Thursday. I tested it...went to godaddy and it became "available" whereas 24 hrs prior, it was unavailable. Back order finally picked it up TUESDAY the following week. wtf? So, yes, I paid 1995 prices for a domain i could have registered myself for $8 bucks i feel scammed
Godaddy's backorder service isn't the most aggressive but it can and does occasionally snag you a domain.
