I'm hoping one of you guys can help me understand whether the back links that I have to my main site (front page) also count towards the ranking (or search engine) position for the sub pages ? Specifically, if I have a page called www.spacetime.com.au with 50 back links. Do those 50 back links also count towards a sub page called www.spacetime.com.au/store or do I need to get links directed specifically to this second page. So, do all pages on my site benefit from links back to the front or index page ? Hope this isn't too simple a question but it will affect how I request links from other sites. Thanks mgford
not directly but indirectly. your main page gets a boost on SERP and PR which then passes some juice to the internal pages
Thanks for the info. So best I keep requesting links back to my main site index page and hope for some juice to flow through to the various sub pages rather than have links coming back to here, there and everywhere. Cheers M.
I agree with iaria. Also, there is a fantastic book by Dan Thies, it's entirely free and well worth the download: www.seofaststart.com Explains the flow of PageRank through your site, as well as a bunch of other things. Highly recommended read.
