Hello, I am new to SEO and have only been involved with it for less than a year now. I am using spyglass to check my back links and I began to notice that when I first comment on a site I will get a certain PR value such as 6. But as I continue to comment on the same site my PR value for that site begins to go down to 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 , and then 0 for the rest of the time. Does this happen with all sites? I am working hard on back linking using anchor text for a certain key word I now rank 24th for on google, my goal was to move up in rankings. But it seems that the more I link with my anchor text the lower I become on the rankings such as now I am 27th for that particular word. Coincidence?
keep changing your anchor text, and you may go down due to change in alorightms, so must change your work ways regularly.
You can also try tools that let you create articles that contain your backlinks, that then get picked up by quality bloggers looking for content.
I wouldn't say they lose weight over time more of the opposite way around. Are you sure you have not lost though link exchnage where people have simply just taken your link down? On the other hand are you saying that you have only commented on one site only the whole time? You need to mix things up so it looks natural, such as blog comments, forum posts (like this one) write a few articles a month leaving an anchor link this is mixing it up and looks better on your link profile.
It really depends what kind of links you are building and the quality of links. Just focus on links that are relevant to your sites content and they will hold weight longer. I will take a pr1 relevant link over 3 pr 4 non relevant any day of the week. Google is trying to make the internet more user friendly by their search results coming back with relevant content. Who would have thunked...
It's possible that google penalized you for excessive used of keyword and detect the abuse on a specific high-ranking site where you are posting your comments.
Dear, google has renewed its formula on giving PR to a website. Don't dishearten. Be hones on your work. you will get your previous position miraculously.
