Hi I have spent some time building inbound links to my site - with directories and exchanges and articles etc. when I do a link: www.thesite.com.au it shows 4 links and when I do a search on www.thesite.com.au it shows 500 sites linking to mine. I wonder if someone could explain the difference to me and what is going on - are the link: command updated periodically or something. Also is there any way to speed up the process? Thank you! Vivienne
Hi The links shown using the 'link' command is only a small sample of the links google knows about. You are better using google webmasters or yahoo site explorer to get a better idea of the links to your site.
you get overview of approved link in google by typing link:sitename and you get future approved link by only typing your domainname.com without www.
With google sometimes it may take a while before you receive the benefits of your linkbuilding campaign.
The Link operator dont show all the links. I have more than 8000 links for my site in webmaster tools but when I check using link operator, it only show 33 links.
Why the difference between the link search operator and google webmaster tools? Always wondered about this...
Hi angilina How on earth do you get 8000 links? Through a scheme? Thanks for all the replies Vivienne
