Spam links are usually ill-places links on a comment or an article. It's easy to spot them because they usually are not related or relevant to the topic of the post. Sometimes, they outright don't belong in the comment or article.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Look for keyword stuffing and whether the copy around the link is meaninful or just looks gramatically incorrect/random sentences with no meaning.

also look for relevance... ie: some content with a text link about Gucci handbags posted on a site about cars, totally irrelevant and crap.

A link can look spamy if it is unrelated to the site content, or there are too many links there in a bad manner, a spam links can look spam itself..

Any tool can also be used to find spam links, use any backlink checker which tells outbound links too.

    Good point here..

Those blogs or forums which are moderated have not much links as well. But with auto approved blogs, forums you would get lots of spam.
