back link?

what is back link _?
forexample when i write google search "yahoo.com" there are 242.000.000 result but when i write link:www.yahoo.com(people says this is back link)
2.350.000 result .. what does it mean. why they are diffrerent?
and what is google's criters to give backlinks?

 

backlink is a link on another site that points to your site

you see a difference when you search www.yahoo.com and yahoo.com because people can link to either of those, and seach engines usually treat them as 2 distinct sites even if they feature the same content

This is the correct answer. Try clicking some of the pages listed for "link:www.yahoo.com" query. You will see that those pages has a link pointing to www.yahoo.com.

You are performing 2 different queries. Typing "karinca.net" is searching for the text "karinca.net". Typing "link:www .karinca.net" is searching for backlinks. They can be different because:

1) an occurrence of karinca.net on a page isn't necessarily a link
2) Google only shows a sample of backlinks anyway

 

for google backlinks search: domain name

google see a domain has www. and without www. are different

If you want to have same backlinks count or just focus on one form

You may redirect from one to the other one.
