I am putting together a strategy to increase my PR. My strategy includes the following: - Posting on business related forums with website in signature - Submitting articles to sites like Add to this, Digg, Article Directory etc - Creating pages on social sites such as Facebook, Myspace linking back to my site - Adding an a link directory to my site allowing people to submit reciprocal links automatically Any ideas or comments? Best Wishes Geraldine
link directories work well if the page has good pagerank... It seems as if it is hard to recruit people for your directory with PR0.
Still have many ways/techniques/effort can not listed to build backlinks, will be more if blackhat technique will be applied as well. BTW thanks for sharing.
Geraldine, your strategy depends on the competition for the keyword(s) you wish to rank for. Search for your keyword in "quotes" on Google and see how many pages are returned. Web/article directory links, social bookmarking, blog comments forum signatures, can all help especially with low competition keywords. But if you are in a competitive niche, you will need some potent backlinks. And by the way, I would reconsider reciprocal links. Especially for directories, Matt Cutts has stated that Google does not like requiring a backlink in return for a free submission. Reciprocal links do not carry much SEO weight anyway. If you are going to get some reciprocal links, get them only if you stand to gain a reasonable amount of highly targeted traffic. Happy link building!
Those are good but they are insufficient. Why don't you comment on blogs that has a do follow link? that would be a good strat.
I have to agree "do follow" blogs are the sweetest source of PR. You need to watch out, many sites have the rel="nofollow" on their links. I use a pluggin for Firefox called "SEO for Firefox". What it does is to highlight all the rel="nofollow" links on any given page. Also some social bookmarking sites use redirects to deny you PR, so you need to watch out for that.
Hey Geraldine, I'm on a 'traffic is king' trip today so I've got to ask; what are you doing about bringing in customers to your site? I firmly believe that your PR will grow naturally if you have a decent site with decent content. Never forget about off-web advertising. Good luck, Cheers, p.
A 'do follow' Blogs are Blogs that not using the 'rel=nofollow' on external links, which means those (dofollow) Blogs can give you backlinks. Good luck friend
The simple rule : To increase the PR you should get more backlinks having a higher PR and it would be better to get the backlinks from related niches. Some of the source of links are Free directories submitting articles to article directories Signature link in the forum Social networking sites Blog comments etc. and see that these links are do follow
Thanks for all the information. I have subscribed to seobook which looks good. How do you know if a blog is not using 'rel=nofollow' Thanks Geraldine
Your strategy seems fine to me. I would also like to add comments to blog with your backlink in the comment!
Interesting strategy, seems fine for me, i think i'll apply some of your advice. Good luck with the PR
