BAck link retention in purchased Site

    Hi all

    I have this following Idea . pls tell if its correct or not.

    When i purchase a site xyz.com with PR and has Back link from different sites.

    The Back link to just the Domain name xyz.com will remain for ever

    The back link to other interior pages likexyz.com/as/dfd.html (which will be lost during domain transfer) will go away ..

    You can retain those backlinks by putting a permanent 301 server side redirect from the old pages to the corresponding new pages.
