Check this URL written July 25: http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/004204.html Zero across all DCs. The live PR for this post is not 0, it means it is too new. Then check this URL written July 21: http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/004185.html It is becoming a PR6. Anyone have a site or page that was created after July 25 and which is now getting PR? Good feedback Scott. Or much more important, which backlinks does yahoo list first in a backlink check? How strong are they? I don't use Google to check backlinks, still believe it is random confusion. Before or after July 25? I think that is the crucial question.
No PR change, though a few DCs are showing 0 for my PR 2 website. This website has a predicted PR 6. Some data centers are showing PR 4 for dealfiesta.com, a deal website I created a few months ago and never really promoted. How ironic!
Since the window is usually one month before, I now have to wonder if they used the data from the frozen, screwy August 24th rollout. Perhaps they changed something in the way calculations were done since then?
Seeing updates in a couple..one went from 3 to 6....oh yeah...that's the best so far...others seem to have increased as well. And some seem to have not been updated at all...still at 0....
1 Install SearchStatus 2. Right click -> show backward links -> and choose domain external only -> all 3. Close Google, just waste of time 4. Start with Yahoo look at the total number "1 - 10 of about xxx." High or low? Over 10K is good. 5. Look at the green URLs in the top 10: forum threads? Useless. Many home pages? Good. Open the top ones in tabs and while they load go over to MSNs backlink report and do the same. 6. Look at the top listed backlink sites that you opened with yahoo and MSN, high or low PR? Many links on the pages or just a few? If you want even more accuracy and details do the following: 7. Look at the home page of the site you want to evaluate, click on an external link on that page and open it in a new tab. Now on this new page do step 2 and 3. 8. Is the site you want to evaluate showing up in the top 10 in the backlink reports? Yes, good. No, bad. 9. Repeat step 7 and 8 with more external links as neeeded. If you are evaluating a site that has toolbar PR6 and you check an external link from it to a weak PR3 site and it is not showing up in top 10 in yahoo or MSN it is pretty much sure that this PR6 is now lost or is not real. If you do this hundreds of times you learn it and it goes very fast, within a minute or 2. Use this before buying sites. Sites can have PR5 in the toolbar but with this method you can see the real facts. There are many many more tricks that I learned ... don't have time now but will probably be an article about it soon on my blog.
Cool, i see some pr increase. PR0 > PR2 PR3 > PR4 Some sites are too new so no pr for those and another one stays PR3
I use the same method as you Jim, but the big question, is the importance algorithm from yahoo similar to google, I think so but who knows. I think will be more or less the same algorithm with some variations on specific pages, for example yahoo counts the nofolow links.
its happen we have a site that go from PR0 to PR4 and another from PR3 to PR4 and onther one from PR1 to PR3
Jim why do you say forums threads to be useless, I agree homepages are better but probably some home pages are less important that some forum threads, and I see some threads ranking high at yahoo backlink search for some sites.
Jim, Thanks for this info - very useful. I did plenty of link building in September nothing in July (my loss this time). One thing Jim - is this two month lag on data the norm?? I would think that with the big G it would only one month out at the most. Useful for that estimate on the next PR. First guess is Dec 15th!!! Thanks for the free lessons today.
I got PR2 at Ask Directory with 3,000 backlinks at yahoo and several pr6 and pr5 . But if people are right and the snapshot date is 25 july I registered the domain at 14 july so only 10 days old , Ok must wait another 3 months.
It happened!! I had 20 or so sites go pr6 (still counting), some were pr0 and a few were pr5's. My rss site went pr6, kids search engine went pr6, SEO site went pr6, etc. etc. This is so cool. I also had one go pr7 that was a pr6 - I hope to hear about how others got success. Hip Hip Horray!
I have a site launched in Mid-August which was predicted to get a 5 @ iwebtool, but got a ZERO (0), Oh well, 3 more months
