The meaning is how many sites has given link back to your site and the benefit of this is your site will get more traffic
you need backlinks to get your site ranked high on search engines. more backlinks the better. you check to see how many backlinks your competitors have and from what sources then plan accordingly. you can also track your own site to see how many backlinks you got so that you know how your link building campaign is working and have an idea as to how many more you would need
If i'm engaged in a link campaign of lets say: 10 niche blog comments a day 1 article submission a day 5 directory submissions a day Saying that these sites and directories are crawled on a regular basis. Is there a timescale before these links show up in google. I've used numerous software programmes to determine link amounts to my site with different outcomes. Then using link command my site on google, the links and amounts are no where near the predictions of these software programmes. Can you tell me if time will tell and when does google time tell. Kind Regards Stay cool James
Yo Jimbo, it takes a long time for google to find links... long long time, at least 4 months to see results, but free services are weak in power and low in relevance to google first page results, keep going, back up your link you see in back link trace with free social bookmark... or two, or another link.. form somewhere, Peace Dcx PS. check backlinks on competition, not your site - copy if you cannot innovate!
