I think both result will be same. But mostly all are used to check the back link using link:domainname

I agree backlinkwatch is a useful tool. I am aware though that Google sees link:http://www.url" and link:http://.url" as too separate sites so bare that in mind.

Google doesn't show all your backlinks even if you search it through the search engine.

Use siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com. This is a good tool for checking backlinks.

link:domainname does not show all the backlinks. I use Yahoo! explorer instead it works fine.

This method "link:http://www.url" only show the Google link. For finding all the back link you have to go yahoo siteexplorer. Yahoo always show more back link then Google.

No there are much difference between them. If with http it is showing 10 results then without http it is showing 5 results.

If you are using google chrome or firefox, then install an add-on called SEO-Quake. This add-on will give you all the details including the baclinks of a certain site which I think is the best tool ever for such type of search ;)

Russian programmers have a program that collects all backlinks with multiple search engines, I look through it. It's called the "CS Yazzle"
