I am from that generation. Our government is give monetary incentive to people willing to work past their retirement age. Which is ok if you want to do that. Dam i was looking forward to retiring. They say in a few years there will be more of us (baby boomers) than anyone else, and we need more people to populate to look after us!! So i say...go forth and multiply..I don't want to work till i,m seventy, running around with my zimmer frame. Your thoughts??
you dont want to work as much as I dont want to pay for everybody else...when i know I will have no security net. Different country, same dilemma. Anyway, hope you dont need to work forever.
Yeah, agree - like taking a dump in the middle of a freeway kind of funny. And about as bright as AGS's usual contributions.
The problem is how much less the dollar buys today than when you were in your working prime linkmistress. The other problem is that we're spending too much on our foreign presence, and that is money that could be better spent at home funding our social systems.
No matter what the dollar was in my time, my taxes still went to supporting others and the amount of (drop kicks) who don't want to work and stay on the dole infuriates me gggrrrrr.....
They took your money and used it for something other than your future. The money isn't there. So now people like me have to give our money to fund you because they took yours. I want out of this pyramid scheme!! I could use my money to make so much more and even the charities I might give to would amount to more than the government will use it for.
The government should never have been in the social welfare business. If anything, they should have reduced taxes and encouraged folks to save for their future. Insurance and pension plans typically pay better and cost less than government services. Because they are run for profit, not by bureaucrats.
But what about all the new people graduating with degrees and trying to get their careers started? How does the gov't expect people with massive student loan debts to buy homes or get married when they can't get promoted or even find a job in the career that they are educated in because all the baby boomers are staying around?? I think this is going to really affect the work force in 20 years...people are already putting off getting married and having families because it takes longer to get their careers started and it's only getting worse.
