<b>PEOPLE’S PARTY WEBSITE AND LOGO $300</b>

Hi All,

LOGO: I need a logo and a website to kick-start a people movement, this is my effort to kick out a corrupt government and to launch a Peoples Party in the UK. Need the logo in png, gif, jpg etc, must be a vector graphic so it can be reduced/enlarged without loss of clarity.

Can I just say from the outset, please DO NOT publish the name in this contest, the reason I don’t want the contest to be indexed on google at this time or give anyone with an agenda to try to rubbish what I hope will prove to be something that will strike a chord with the British people who have been so badly let down. (I hope you understand?)

NOW before you start rubbing your hands, this is a one-man show at this point and I don’t know where it will go, I am NOT a celebrity, I’m just an ordinary guy who believes that British values once again has to mean something and I want to try my best to make Britain a better place for people who live here and who agrees with our laws and values. I’m sick to death of all the lying and cheating AND I’ve just got to try to make a stand!

I had a budget of $600 originally to get a start-up business website and stationery out there but I felt I’ve got to at least try to launch this and hopefully I will find others who will want to get involved. So I’ve decided the split the pot so (initially) there will be $300 for the political site and $300 even though it might be more involved for the e-commerce business.

So although the prize is small at this time” I’m really hoping” that really talented designers/coders on this forum will jump on it and see it as more than a contest but a chance to be "involved" and WANT TO help.

The LOGO has to be strong, yet not authoritarian, new and fresh, its got to inspire and offer “new hope” that things can actually change, its got to be seen as NEW POLITICS and be your interpretation of what you think the British people would identify with. The colours have to be red/white blue for both the logo and the template – a strapline idea might be for the people, by the people – or you guys can probably come up with something better!

I want to create a People’s Party for the United Kingdom (to be governed by the people) to bring back democracy, for people and not the despots who are currently in government or hold shadow office “no matter what their party”. I want anyone who has common-sense, who feels utterly let down, who feels they do not have a voice, who believes “change must happen” who wants to help at a ‘local level’ in their communities, to make their regions better places to live, to make local government more transparent. If you want to be part of a party where you have to aspire to do your best, a party where you will be ‘directly answerable to your constituents’ a party that WILL NOT be ruled by whips, a party that listens and acts – I urge you to to help build this project.

NAMES: People who are sick to death of meaningless names – Independent Democrats – Social Democrats – Liberal Democrats, Democratic Alliances, even Conservative Democrats – what the hell does that mean??

Parties with names like Libertas or Veritas that try to be so clever by making themselves seem more polished, more self-important mean nothing to the ordinary voter and in reality it make them seem smug and out of touch!!

I don’t think the British people need a party which has a superior name or a Latin meaning (we’re not in Rome!) – The UK is the home of democracy and I give you the
d-e-m-o-c-r-a-c-y-p-a-r-t-y,c-o,-u-k.

MY reasoning for the new party name is SIMPLE, its a name that actually means something, its not high-brow and actually means something, its not a stupid play on words. We also don’t need a party that is a plaything, or a new toy for a rich Tory old boys club. I just want to TRY to give people back what they want, Democracy from the xxxxxxxxx Party.

THE BRIEF: I need a site that has all the usual pages, tabs, navigation and sub navigation that political pages need. I would not mind it taking ideas (design or otherwise) from the Obama campaign/site. As I’m sure many others have been inspired by him and I sincerely hope he proves to be the man we all want him to be.

**I hope the great designers on this site will be enthused by this and want to be a part of it.

First I need a logo and holding page so I can get this thing showing well in the search engines. The logo has to have a strong UK identity, although I don’t mind it taking some inspiration from the Obama campaign or website. As we Brits and our American cousins share the red, white and blue, why not? – And it didn’t do him any harm did it?

I love the “I’m asking you to believe – brilliant!!” strapline on the http://www.barackobama.com/index.php site its people-centric and not just about one man, perhaps you can come up with something equally inspiring and original??

The contest splits logo $50 the website prize will be $250, if a logo designed by someone here is chosen first then that designer wins that part of the prize as it wouldn’t be fair otherwise. That design would be integrated into the website template and the contest goes on.

I want to use the internet as best I can to find other people like me, outside of all the static content like the about us pages, policies, what we stand for, the manifesto etc, it will need sign up, email, uk and european political rss feeds, forums, blogs etc. I also want to do it without corporate business or blue chip money, I want the people to realise there is something else out there if only they support it so it has to be a fund raiser, donations will have to figure on the main page and throughout the site (sorry) but maybe we can show top contributors in high impact areas within the site or something.

LIKE: this $12000 graphic on Totally Incorrect http://totallyincorrect.com/ could maybe use a similar animation for fund raising and to help those who would have problems raising their deposit. – 1 SINGLE £ + a MILLION people + Could = Democracy!

I want this to be truly a people’s party, my ideas is that the site has to have a way for people (1) to be nominated by others because of good things they are doing in their local areas, (2) or people can nominate themselves.

Either way they should be able to manage their own pages writing a profile on their beliefs and their talents and why they should represent their local areas, every candidate will have the same tools to create a great blog page (see Alicia Hughes dot net) the public will then read their profiles and will vote on who they like best out of the local candidates. I cant believe I found the same idea on this site j-u-r-y-t-e-a-m,o-r-g/c-a-n-d-i-d-a-t-e-s,php it is owned by a multi-millionaire Tory Grandee trying to convince us HE “ONE OF THE ELITE RULING CLASSES” HAS THE BEST INTENTIONS OF THE ORDINARY VOTER AT HEART. We certainly don’t want more rule from people like this. However it’s got the national, the postcode picker and things I would like so it’s worth looking at for ideas.

Also so that the site cannot be attributed to any corporate software and because I support the whole open source ethos, the site should be built using software like Wordpress/joomla (which I don’t really understand) if WP has a CMS that can handle it and any plugins that may be required to easily run the back-end I’d rather stay WP.

Found a WP blog and I would like to use something similar for (anyone who puts themselves up) for election. It would have to have a UK theme but this would be their area, where they would manage/edit their profile, youtube videos etc, it explains what people would want to know about delegates it their area who want to help and their experience etc - http://www.aliciahughes.net/main/

People also have to be able to register, become members, so they can partake in the forums even if they don’t want to stand.

So there you have it, I hope this long post hasn’t put anyone off, I’m just writing things I know will be needed, it’s important to me and I hope it inspires you. I know I’m asking for too much and I also know more will be required to do this but whoever succeeds here will be paid more as and when interest starts and hits become people. So if your in it, it really is in your interest to WIN IT!!
