Azoogle Not Paying International Affiliates Any More?

Earlier this month I wanted to change the bank account that my Azoogle earnings were paid into. It was from one account to another at a bank in New Zealand.

I was told they didn't have a W8BEN tax form on file from me and needed one to make the changes - no problem, I have filled these out for lots of US based companies I make money with.

I fill it out, scan it and email it back.

I then receive an email saying they need both the W8BEN and a W9 form done instead, and that I can't fax or scan it, I need to post it to Toronto.

The W9 is a "Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification" - you need a Social Security number to complete it and one of the certifications you are making as a result of signing it is that you are a U.S. citizen (part II-3 "I am a U.S. person (including a U.S. resident alien)."). It is a tax form for U.S. citizens/companies, not foreign ones.

Of course I am not a US citizen, I do not have a social security number or any of that. I explain this to my AM who calls the accounting department and says that they still need it. If I sign the W9 though I am lying, it is worthless. And on top of it they want me to post everything, which I have never ever done before, scan or fax has always been sufficient.

So my question for Alex or one of the senior people at Azoogle is: What the hell is going on? I am confused, frustrated and pissed off. Apparently until I do this I don't get paid.

Azoogle has always required internation users to mail (post) the w-8 to them. Also just leave the ssn part on the w-9 blank if they still want that, no biggie. But you def have to send it via post.

If I complete the W9 I am effectively saying I am a US citizen and presumably opening myself to tax there. There is absolutely no need nor nothing to be gained by me completing it, in fact I would be committing fraud.

    There is surely some misunderstanding

W9 is only - only for US residents

You only need to send W8 Form by Airmail.

Do contact your AM again, Just ask him to confirm it with Joe or Alex.

Unfortunately you will have to send it by post as this seems to be their corporate policy. I can assure you, however, that as soon as they receive this information, Azoogle pays out to international affiliates.

I'm just goind through the same thing. I send my w8 form, now they want a w9.

I've read the IRS website and it clearly states that non U.S. persons should fill out the w8 instead of the w9. These forms a mutually exclusive.

I would have to perjure myself to fill out the w9 form - since I am not a U.S. person.

All the responses I get from Azoogle are "it's policy, you have to fill it out". So now the couple of thousand $ I have are sitting in their bank account.

So, any employees from Azoogle out there - do you want us to lie on tax forms so we can get paid?

We apologize for the confusion regarding W-8 and W-9 forms for affiliates. To clarify, here is what you need to do:

    1) International affiliates (individuals, foreign partnerships and foreign corporations) who do not maintain a permanent establishment (fixed location) in the US:

You may be accepted to AzoolgeAds network immediately. However, you must submit a W8BEN form to AzoogleAds before you can receive payments.

    2) International affiliates (individual, foreign partnership and foreign corporation) who maintains a permanent establishment (fixed location) in the US:

You may be accepted to AzoogleAds network immediately. However, you must submit a W9 form to AzoogleAds with a social security number or employer identification number. In the case where an affiliate cannot certify the US status on the W-9, he or she must complete a W-8BEN. We must receive the W-9 and / or W-8BEN before you can receive payment.

    3) US affiliates (individual, partnership and corporation):

You may be accepted to the AzoogleAds network immediately. However you must submit a W-9 form to AzoogleAds with a social security number or employer identification number before you can receive payments.

Okay, thanks. Could you please pass that on to the affiliate managers and accounting? I was accepted a long time ago, but when I changed to wire transfers the problems started.
