    Hey guys

So i was running a entertainment based site getrudemagazine.com , we also got the domain rude-mag.com because the get part was to long. The HUGE issue was rudemag.com and rude.com were owned by a sleezy porn site i mean SLEEZY 1990s porn the owner refused to sell the mag domain. We did alright though regardless and jumped up to around 70-100k visitors a month. i ended up getting way to busy and stopped updating the site but we still bring in 1000 visits a day.

I was on the hunt for a better name because we are not technically a magazine just a online entertainment site. I found AxeOnline.com got it imidiately and made a logo for it.

Do you think this is valuable and could transition to a entertainment site ? My struggle is brand recognition for axe body spray but they have a TERRIBLE online presence so i think this could be a advantage.

I quite like it, you could make that work - you'd just need a carefully considered marketing campaign so that you don't lose your old userbase.

Had to read the original url twice before I realised it wasn't gertrude magazine!

    Thanks Sarahk
That is a funny mistype we get often the whole gertrude thing . We would do redirects all and send out a press release to our content networks. Its difficult because when canvasing close friends they all assume Axe body spray but i think people who understand web marketing strategies can get it .

Although, your domain name should reflect the 'feel' & theme of your site, it is not essential. As long as you can build a good brand presence with AxeOnline.com for your entertainment site, this should be fine.

Another strategy which i employ, is that i may have a product which has about 5 relevant keywords... My main domain name does not reflect my product/service but is my company name - then i have the 5 separate domain names related to my products & services & these feed into my main site. I find this strategy works best for me because it ends up creating a valid resource for those specific keywords & the info related to them.. Google loves that - apparently! :)

That is really good advice , its a little harder with a non product related site but i have my content networks to back me and give me the relevancy i think. If anyone is interested this is the logo we came up with , i think after seeing the logo the brand really works and says entertainment. [IMG]
