I was looking through both my Analytics and Awstats logs for one of my newer sites and noticed that Analytics does not seam to be as high in numbers as my AWstats logs, I am guessing this is because AWstats is server side and that Google may not receive every bit of info sent their way. Has anyone else noticed this? Also, AWstats is showing that 85.1% of the visitors (I started using AWstats about two weeks ago and this site just launched so there are only around 480.) bookmarked the site. That is a pretty high number and I know the number is estimated but what are the chances the real percentage is even close? Thanks.
Yes, Awstats figures will be inflated because of bots, scrapers, crawlers, etc that GA doesn't pick up. Not sure about the bookmark metric...seems like total nonsense to me.
I have been watching my bookmark figures for quite some time. With numbers varying quite a bit from site to site. Some websites do seem to have much higher percentages. Which may make sense because of the value of the website's content to the visitor. As skanxalot mentioned "bots, scrapers, crawlers" inflate the figures though this does not seem to be the case for bookmarks? One possible reason for a higher percentage could be that more than one page is bookmarked per visit?
