I am looking to publish university result in one of my site. To handle high traffic, I am opting for Amazon Web Service.

The website has to balance/optimized for two days after the result is published and then back to low memory instance.

So can I switch my website from Large instance to small/micro/mini instance without moving my files(database) or other configuration ?

If your using Apache and MySQL you can copy and move to another platform.

Changing the type of instance will not affect your data.
