Awesome Boating Site But High Bounce Rate...What Gives?

eBoatListings.com, the easiest way to sell your powerboat, sailboat, or catamaran - eBoat Listings is an online marketplace for buying and selling boats commission-free. We started this company (and website) because in our search for a boat to live on in the Caribbean, the tools didn't exist to search for the details we wanted (like a water maker, solar panels, etc). Other sites (like BoatTrader.com, YachtWorld.com, iBoats.com etc) also charge boat sellers extra to post more photos so lots of boats didn't have many photos...frustrating! So eBoat Listings was born which allows unlimited photos and provides advanced search tools.

We launched a little over a year ago but our bounce rate is still pretty high on the eBoat Listings homepage and on the boat details pages (the page where you get the most details about a specific boat). Here is an example of a boat details page: http://www.eboatlistings.com/sailboats/listing/1807/Nautical-Development-Corp-Stevens-56

Any suggestions on design that would help with the bounce rate (and conversion for that matter!)?

Thanks very much for your help!

    Aside from content,
one thing I could tell is that BoatTrader.com design is more responsive than eBoatListings.com. So your audience may comfortably view webpages of the former on any of their devices, e.g. desktop, laptop, Android, iPad, iPhone, etc.

To test this (mobile) responsiveness, press CTRL-SHIFT-M keys on your Firefox and see how the page changes its layout in respond to changes in screen sizes, and also in portrait / landscape modes.

    Hi Hendra,
Thanks for your response. Yes, a responsive design is in the works. We realize this is very important and we are focusing on this. However, we are interested in response to the "non-mobile" design currently, so that we can better plan a direction for the responsive design.

    Thanks again!
