you then realize you've lost a few things you needed? I've deleted around 50 databases I've been working on, on my local machine so now it's back to step 0 I'd outsource, but I don't really trust these Indian workers (no offense) from past experience, the quality of work is poor and insecure sure, not everyones a crap 12 year old script kiddy who read "build a database driven website in 48 hours for dummies" who doesn't know what they're doing but you want the job done right, you gotta do it yourself aye?
I just formatted my os hard drive a few days ago - I made backups to DVD, and a 1:1 backup to an external drive just in case... Live and learn. You can never be too thin, too rich, or have too many backups
This thread is really confusing... from fact one to another. I remember when I was a boy of ten, I've formated mom's HDD, without asking her - there was data of her annual work which hasn't been exported yet. Even now I feel sorry for it.
Just buy another drive. They are dirt cheap now, and you don't have to risk losing anything important. I usually run 2 drives in my machines. One for the OS and one for all of my data. This way I can format the OS when needed. And i can transfer back and forth before and after formats.
I did actually back everything up, file wise it's just I forgot about the databases, cus they aint flat-file
The solution is really simple, don't do meth! j/k heh. Well I personally look into each important folder before formatting.
haha I wouldn't touch any sort of drug apart from pot (and that's bad enough) Meth's just a nickname long story short: a girl gave it me because I have an "addictive personality" "I love your personality, it's so addictive, just like meth is to addicts"
