Hello, I have 2 sites that I plan to launch within the next 1-3 months. The first, www.raisingsmallsouls.com will be a parenting site. I have already, for Sanbox reasons begun posting links with my keywords on various related forums, although the site is going to be developed in a few weeks. Is this a good idea to shorten my sandbox time? The second site, www.spiritualchocolate.com- I have not yet hosted anywhere. Does it pay to start gaining inbound links now for my upcoming keywords... or should I wait until I put something up there on the site? Thanks.. hope that all made sense!!
From my experience the sandbox is related to an amount of time based on which google first indexes your site into their search engine. Therefore, it would be better (if my opinion is right) to put up a page that talked about what your site will have when it finally opens. All you will then need is a couple links so G can find it.
I sually put up the site with my basic structure, then build links to it slowely. the only issue I have had with the sandbox is when I build links to quickly
I'd have to agree with some of the others. Build your site up first with content, and then focus on keyword-targeted links. Be sure that the keywords you choose are relavent to your site content...I know that may sound awkward but Google punishes site rankings/listings for having irrelavent keywords!
I just wrote up a hackneyed article on the topic since I faced a similar dilemna several months back. Pretty basic, but germane. http://www.goarticles.com/cgi-bin/showa.cgi?C=98497
There is an interesting thread on searchenginewatch http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?t=9137 Is it this easy to avoid the sandbox?
in my experience the sandbox has nothing to do with getting your site indexed, more to do with ranking. If you target highly competitive keywords with a new site you will see the effects of teh sandbox because you won't rank. I always target many many more less competitive keywords than a few highly copetitive ones for new sites.
If you know what you do, avoiding the sandbox is quite possible. - buy old domain - try to get links from authoritive websites (like .edu..) - update your site every day - most iportant! - too many links at once may put your site into the sandbox quickly. - try to rank for less competitive keywords first from my experience and some article I've read recently, Michael
This is not very related to what I said lol I was talking about old domains, those which were registered some time ago.. You can find all the good ones here www.domainsbot.com Parked domains are just regular domains that are parked
I can give you my understanding of a parked domain. A domain's status as "parked" simply means that: 1.) The domain name is registered to someone. 2). The domain is considered active upon registration, even while parked. 3). The domain's registration has not yet been assigned with the owner's DNS server and IP information. The registrar shows a parked page as the index for the domain. I have even read that the registrar includes a "robots.txt" file in the domain root which prevents the spidering of their parked page by the search engines.
