This is kind of a long post, but I wrote it up, and a posting it on some forums, as I see TONS OF "how to do i make money threads".

Whether you are new or not, it is a great read for anyone still learning.

If you are still new at learning how to make money online, or specifically affiliate marketing, you are like a fish swimming in a pool of piranhas.

The piranhas are the “Make money online gurus” who don’t necessarily always come in the form of the guru.

These guys promise the “Secret turnkey 10,000$ a month business yours now for 100$” offers that usually don’t deliver. The problem is that guides like this are selling, because everybody wants those easy answers.

I am not here to give you easy answers, or really any answers at all when it comes to making money, at least not in this post.
This I have written today is just HARD TRUTH, I am not here to sugarcoat shit.

I am here to explain you what you need to learn BEFORE you can learn how to make money, which is how to navigate the information overload you are probably experiencing.

If you are like me starting out, you probably don’t even have the money for the guru’s special course anyways, so that brings us to the “Information Overload”.

If you look at free resources, while ignoring the constant bombardment of people selling you Internet Marketing products, you will see that there are TONS of threads of forums and articles on websites that explain marketing methods and traffic sources.

Now that you have found these places like blackhatworld, wickedfire, warriorforum etc. you need to learn what you need to learn without getting lost in a swamp like I did.

See when I opened that BHW homepage, I saw at least 20 threads that looked useful, methods promising those golden numbers, 50-100$ a day.

Even if the threads were years old, I still spent time reading them. Many of these threads still work, and I am not saying you shouldn’t do your research into making money online.

However, it doesn’t matter if you have 24 hours a day, you will not have time to implement 20 methods at the same time, especially because some can be very time consuming.

That is the purpose of me writing this, to help people who are new to internet marketing understand how detrimental this can be, and hopefully overcome it. The first thing you need to do is figure out what your own plan is.
Are you here just to spam and try and make a little fast CPA money? Are you experienced in certain niches and want to create products, promote offers, and create a long term business?

What I try to do is have a little bit of both, because I do have a couple short term spam methods, but they are not going to succeed long term.

However, I have some niches I have a lot of content for, and am creating long term, legit websites and campaigns based around these at the same time.

The reason I say this is because, not that I know my goals, I can make sure not to stray far from them. If I see a thread about Instagram, or some other type of social media or CPA tips, I know it might be worth spending time on.

I also know that if it has to do with selling e-books on the Amazon Kindle store, it is up my alley as that is one niche. On the flip side, I can go through forums like blackhatworld and the majority of the shiny “Method” threads are not worth my time, even though they might have good stuff in them.
It is just not economical for me to spend all day reading an 80-page thread, even if it is a good method, just because I have so much work to do.

In addition, I am not really tempted to spend money on e-books because I know that while they are useful, they might not be important for my current ventures. This also is a huge help, because seeing a legit looking e-book method is also very tempting, especially because the price tag on it makes it seem valuable.

Once again, most e-books promising big money aren’t what they seem, but then again I have made money off a method learned in an e-book.

I had some spam methods going, but spent most of my free time dicking around and reading about methods, but never building a long term business.

I recommend that any beginner follows a similar mindset, make sure to get laser focused on your goals and your niche. If you don’t do this, you could end up right where I did in 2013, failure.

Once my spam methods dried up, I was screwed for a while and it is not something you want to happen, I actually had to admit I failed and go back to work for a couple years, because it was the responsible thing to do despite knowing that I could make money.

My hope is that this might help some newbies find their way, because every day I see threads of people who I know are fish swimming in a pool of piranhas.

    Hey dude,
Great post and really good advice!

I've been avoiding all sorts of "make money like this" threads, all over the place. I find learning from experience (and therefore actually creating something and trying to sell it, rather than reading) has proved a lot more fruitful for me.
