I have a Canadian classified ad site where people can post an ad in multiple cities, provinces or the whole Canada. Each city is in a subdomain. My goal is to avoid duplicate page penalty and have the pages indexed separately even though they are 99% the same. I've put some h1, h2 tags about the current city, some meta geo tags etc. e.g. toronto.domain.com/123.html and montreal.domain.com/123.html could point to the same ad but I want toronto.domain.com/123.html to show up only when somebody uses matching keywords e.g. "Toronto some_keywords_that_are_contained_in_the_ad". any ideas ?
Need a link..... are these urls generated dynamically? Are you using a "thing lol" that spits out separate html files? At a glance you can tackle this with the canonical tag but I am sorta flying blind without seeing what we are talking about. Nigel
Here are some example links. I am using the beta section. http://toronto.beta.miniads.ca/231.html and http://montreal.beta.miniads.ca/231.html
i have too many blogs to make the content unique soo i spin some existent articles like 50% or more and change completely the title. Google find your article like duplicate by title.i checked this with copyscape soo i don't speak bullshits. Soo..title seems to be the key.
