    Hey,

I have got a idea for avoiding people to bump threads. And that is:-

If you turn ON merging posts that will avoid bumping. When some post on "1:00" within this hour if he do another post that will merge, but if he do post on "2:01" that will not merge :).

I hope this idea will help us avoid bumping.

    Thanks

Thanks for your quick reply, and sorry for my late reply.

You are right, but members that know about the "edit" button will use it, but if a member came to DP for his first time, he dont know about it.

So if you add that feature that will be too good :)

    Thanks

Any new member to this forum, or any other forum, should have the smarts since they joined to read the FAQ's.

Just can not believe the number of people who have joined DP who ask the most basic questions constantly.

All they have to do is read the FAQ for DP...answers those questions.

I think it would be quite odd if he did not see the edit button IMO.It is present in most forums, and a newbie will generally search for it generally.:)

*Cough* You bumped more than one thread buddy ;)
I would advise using the edit button if you dont want infractions.

That's exactly what the infraction system is for - to alert you that you've done something wrong....and maybe it's time to go re-read (or read for the first time) the forum rules.

You may have noticed that nothing changed after you received the infraction. You're still allowed on the forums....you still have all of your fingers and toes...

Grafstein:- As i was a newbie and did that, like me alot of people will do that bumping thing, and they will recieve infractions. If the mods or admin dont add infraction, but pm the user a warning instead, then it will be good OR add that merging thing.

    Thanks

My people come to know about the rules only from posts like this. I have noticed that not many new members read FAQ/Rules before they get into some kind of trouble.

I'm sure the mods have enough work without having to PM a warning and trying to remember who has been warned already and by whom. The infraction is pretty much harmless unless someone chooses to abuse the system.
